About FrostLine
FrostLine is a free, growing set of civil and structural engineering calculators with a deliberate cold-region focus. The tools that matter most at high latitude — frost penetration, snow and ice loads, seismic demand — are treated as first-class, with Alaska data built in, alongside the everyday structural checks engineers reach for on every project.
How to use these tools
Every calculator is built for preliminary estimates and education. Each one shows the equations and the references behind it, so you can check the work — and so it can be reviewed by a licensed engineer. The numbers are a starting point for understanding, not a finished design.
Important disclaimer
FrostLine calculators do not constitute engineering services and are not a substitute for the judgment of a licensed professional engineer. Building codes, load criteria, and site conditions vary; you are responsible for verifying every result against the governing code and project-specific data before any design or construction use.
What's next
The roadmap leans further into cold-region and transportation work — including bridge load rating, retaining-wall and lateral-earth-pressure checks, rebar development length, and atmospheric ice loads. Tools are added as they're built and reviewed.
