The ice forms a uniform glaze around the member, so the iced cross-section and weight per foot on a round member are:
Ai = π·td·(Dc + td) , wi = (Ai/144) · 56 pcf
- t — nominal map ice thickness (in), 500-yr MRI from the ASCE 7 ice maps
- fz — height factor, 1.0 at or below 33 ft, valid to 900 ft
- 56 pcf — minimum glaze-ice density (§10.4.1)
